Application Guideline - New Admission Procedure
Applicants with a high school graduation (expected) or a total college credit of less than 30 credits are considered as applicants for new admissions. Those who earn less than 30 credits from the previous university must submit their high school and university transcripts.
Application: The University of Utah accepts applications online. (Internet Explorer may have compatibility issues, so using Chrome, Firefox, or Safari is recommended for submitting an online application.)
Application Fee: Application fee is $ 55, and is not returned. After the deadline, additional late fee of $ 30 will be charged. Do not send cash.
Submission of Transcripts: Transcripts from high school or previous university must be submitted and transcripts must be sent either by registered mail from the university or electronically via Parchment, NSC or ScripSafe. Official transcripts, including external tests, and transcripts of four years of secondary school (grades 9-12) must be submitted. If the certificate of graduation does not have the evidence of graduation, submission of a copy of diploma or certificate is required. All transcripts must be sent directly from the school or the Department of Education (applicable city), and all documents not issued in English must be in the original language where a notarized English copy is attached together. If the school does not send transcripts directly by postal mail, the applicant can submit the documents in a sealed envelope issued by the school.
Submission of Official English Language Proficiency Test Score: Applicants who have attended or graduated from a high school outside of the United States must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score. The University of Utah requires a minimum of iBT TOEFL 80 (pBT 550) or IELTS 6.5 or higher. Official English language test scores are valid for up to two years at the time of admission and must be sent directly from the official testing institution to the University of Utah University in Salt Lake City. The University of Utah's TOEFL Recipient Code is 4853. Applicants who meet the condition of the University of Utah's Official English Language Exemption requirement do not need to submit official English language scores.
ACT or SAT: If the applicant is a US citizen or a citizen of an approved English speaking country, one must submit ACT or SAT scores regardless of school. If applicants have attended an American high school or a U.S. Accredited International School for more than 2.5 years, all of them must submit ACT or SAT scores regardless of their country of origin. ACT or SAT scores must be sent electronically from the testing institution. The University of Utah school’s SAT code is 4853 and the ACT school code is 4274.
Submission of Additional Documents (Optional): The applicant may submit additional documents to appeal oneself, and additional documents may be submitted without any limitations, such as essays, letters of recommendation, resumes or external history. Please include name (the same spelling as one written in online application) and date of birth on any additional documents to be submitted.
