Admissions to top 30 rank US universities hit different!

1) Recommendation letters much more important
-> Help each recommender with a short resume giving relevant details on your activities, interests, goals.

2) Extracurricular activity descriptions should be 150 characters max and to the point
-> 2nd language speakers of English may not be familiar with the news-ad type abbreviations commonly used here, but that and with impact, especially for your strong, uncommon activities needing a description but with impact.

3) Students with documented special-needs can apply for and receive help without disadvantage to their applications, including receiving extra time during SAT testing (commonly 1.5 of testing time) and tutoring help at no extra cost at participating universities.

4) Students aiming for pre-health degrees (MD, DDS, RN, PharmD, DVM, among others) should consider undergraduate programs and institutions with the best preparation for their health-professional degrees but also with the best GPA possible upon graduation.

5) Low grades during the COVID-19 years must snap to improved grades hereafter
-> Low grades are not good, but studies of students having struggled during the Covid-19 lockdown distance-learning exist. Such an appeal in the application can still mitigate such low-grade disadvantages.

6) When applying to colleges as either an arts or music major but have possibility of changing majors or are interested in other majors still, a general university rather than an arts or music school may be preferred. Exploring both options is best nonetheless.
